This is the distended uterus on Dolly.  Weighing about 3 pounds and filled with foul-smelling pus, it is the source of her discomfort.  The ovaries and uterus are carefully ligated and removed intact.  The abdomen is flushed with warmed sterile flush and her abdomen is closed with absorbable suture.  Dolly is given pain relief and allowed to recover.
